Netherlands D Type / Long-Stay Visa
Overview
A Schengen “D” type visa or Long-Stay visa allows its holder to enter and stay in a Schengen country for more than 3 months.
It is issued for various purposes such as:
- Study.
- Academic Research.
- Complete an internship or training program.
- Employment.
- Dependents of a D type visa holder.
You require a Schengen D type visa if you wish to travel to any of the 26 European countries in the Schengen area for longer than 90 days.
The applicant must submit an application for a D type / long-stay visa as well as all the supporting documents that are required according to the purpose of the intended stay.
SUBMISSION PROCESS
You must apply to the country:
- Which is the sole destination for your travel.
- In case of travel to multiple countries, you apply where you would be staying for the maximum period during your entire travel.
- If no main destination can be determined, you apply to the country that is the first port of Schengen entry.

Appearing for the visa interview.

Collection of passport.

Documents Required
- Original passport with minimum 3 month’s validity from date of departure from the Schengen area and with two available blank pages.
- Appointment confirmation.
- Online submitted / application form and other supplementary forms.
- Any previous / expired passport.
- Sponsorship / official documents (from Netherlands).
- Company / Institute support letter.
- Statement of purpose outlining the intent /reason for travel, travel itinerary, applicants profile etc.
- Evidence of employment / business.
- Evidence of income, savings and investments.
- Evidence of leave approval.
- Sponsorship documents from India (if applicable).
- Sponsorship documents from France (if applicable).
- Marriage certificate, children’s birth certificate (if applicable).
- ID docs.
- Travel itinerary.
- Flight and hotel reservations to meet visa requirements.
- Travel / Medical insurance to cover duration of trip (recommended).

Duration of visa is at the discretion of the visa officer.
On the visa sticker the “number of entries” is indicated: “1”, “2” or “MULT”. The holder of a multiple entry visa (“MULT”) may enter the Schengen area unlimited number of times during the validity of the visa while respecting the rules on duration of stay.
Biometric Requirements
All applicants have to appear in person in order to provide biometric data (fingerprints and digital photograph) at the scheduled visa submission appointment.
