L1 visa is a non-immigrant visa that permits an Indian passport holder to work in the US. It permits a US company to transfer a key employee from one of its offices in India to the United States as an intra-company transfer.
It also allows companies to open a US operation for the transfer of its executives, managers and specialized employees.
There are two types of L1 visa:
L2 visa – spouse and unmarried children under 21 years of age of a L1 visa holder qualify for a L2 Dependent visa.

If you are a spouse and/or minor child of a student in the US, you qualify as a dependent. Children over the age of 21 are not eligible as dependents.
Yes, they can apply at the same time or anytime later as well.
An Indian passport holder must apply for a M1 visa from India or their current country of residence if they wish to study in the US.
You can travel one month before start of the program.
No. You would need to pay a new visa fee and apply for a new visa.
Typically, the processing time is 3/5 working days from the interview date. However, you would be notified if the embassy requires more time for verification etc.
Yes. You need to carry both passports with you i.e. new passport (all the personal info must match the old passport) and the expired passport with a valid visa.
OFC appointment is to be scheduled at least one day before the visa interview appointment.
Visa approval is at the sole discretion of the visa officer.
Once paid, this visa fee is neither refundable nor is it transferable to anyone else.
Sometimes, the embassy may request additional documents to aid their decision.
