The UK PLAB visa is designed for overseas-qualified doctors who wish to take the Professional and Linguistic Assessment Board (PLAB) test in the United Kingdom. This test is essential for doctors seeking to practice medicine in the UK and is administered by the General Medical Council (GMC). The PLAB test assesses the medical knowledge and English language proficiency of overseas doctors to ensure they meet the standards required to practice in the UK.
Key Features of the UK PLAB Visa:
Eligibility: Applicants must be graduates from a recognized medical school and provide evidence of their eligibility to sit for the PLAB test, such as a confirmed test date from the GMC.
PLAB Test Structure: The test consists of two parts:
- PLAB 1: A written multiple-choice examination that can be taken in various locations worldwide.
- PLAB 2: An Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) held in the UK, which assesses practical skills and clinical competence.
